Bars & Restaurants

In the heart of the medieval village of Castelvetro, the restaurant located on the ground floor of the castle stands out for its balance between tradition and innovation. Exposed brick, striking vertical surfaces, and historic architectural details are given new life through a lighting design that not only enhances the space, but transforms it into a sensory experience. Indirect lighting highlights the materiality of the ancient walls, with light fixtures equipped with anti-glare screens integrated into the floors. Perimeter recessed fittings with elliptical optics create a refined grazing effect, projecting plays of light and shadow that amplify the depth of the space without flattening its textures.

The warm and welcoming atmosphere is achieved with a color temperature of 2700K, while the dimmable in-ground recessed fixtures allow the light to be adjusted according to natural brightness. The service lighting on the counter is designed with recessed fixtures featuring cut-off optics to reduce glare, ensuring a perfect balance between visual comfort and operational efficiency.

At the entrance, a system of adjustable spotlights installed on tracks parallel to the wooden beams discreetly illuminates the counter and display area, offering flexibility and directionality to the light. In the main dining room, slender gold cylindrical pendant fixtures with a diameter of 3 cm create an intimate and refined lighting, focusing attention on the dishes without being intrusive. Outside, spike spotlights follow the rhythm of the historic windows, while others placed in the planters enhance the interplay of light and shadow among the plants, integrating artificial lighting with the natural environment. This lighting project, developed in perfect harmony with the architectural studio, is not merely a technical exercise, but a narrative of light intertwined with material, giving the Il Castello restaurant in Castelvetro a unique and evocative luminous identity.
